How will you celebrate Omega-3 Day?

Omega-3's help decrease the risk of first heart attack and cut the risk of sudden death in half. They decrease the risk of embolic stroke, lower triglycerides and help with high blood pressure. And now they have a special day--March 3--that extols their virtues.

The first International Omega-3 Day takes place at the University of California, Irvine, where Dr. Carol Locke and other founding members of the Omega Natural Science and Center for Creating Health will speak to students. The event includes five rock bands and comedian Kyle Cease, too.

So, what will you eat in celebration? NutritionData lists dozens of foods highest in total omega-3 fatty acids. Some suggestions: salmon, flax seeds and walnuts. The American Heart Association says omega-3 fatty acid consumption through foods is preferable. But, supplements are also an option.
