Balance Your Heart Chakra with Yoga
At my yoga class this morning, our instructor spoke about balancing the heart chakra (February being Heart Month and all.)
Never heard of a "chakra?" They are our force or energy centers, where life energy flows into and out of our auras. There are seven primary chakras, according to holistic healers. About.com explains them well.
The heart chakra is called the "anahata chakra," which means "unstruck sound." It is located on the spinal cord directly in line with the center of the chest. It governs the respiratory and circulatory organs and systems, and it is associated with the attributes of love, compassion and forgiveness.
Of course the studies of chakras is central to many different therapies and disciplines of medicine, and their use and dates back centuries. AnmolMehta.com shows us a series of poses to help balance our heart chakras.
Or get a good stretch.
I particularly enjoy the "corpse pose" that comes at the end.
